Portland Municipal Dam

The Portland Municipal Dam is a mandatory portage for through paddlers and a good place to start or end a trip.  Take the E Grand River Avenue exit from I-96 (Exit 77) a mile and a quarter to Water Street, which is the first street after crossing the Grand River in downtown Portland.  Turn right on Water Street which becomes Lyons Road and go about 2 miles to the “Portland Fish Ladder” sign and turn right into the park.
