Thompson Field – Portland

Thompson Field in Portland is located along Canal Street on the west side of the Grand River.  Take the Grand River Avenue exit from I-96 (exit 77) and go about 1.25 miles northwest to S Water Street (the first street after the bridge over the Grand River).  Then go southwest (right) one block where S Water Street becomes Canal Street.  Continue along Canal Street about 0.3 miles to Thompson Field.  The access is a gravel ramp not suitable for trailers.

Portland is known as the City of Two Rivers, and the 8-mile Portland Riverwalk could well be called the Trail of Two Rivers. The paved rail-trail serves as a spine for a series of connecting trails, loops and city paths that circle Portland for approximately 15 miles. Locally, the trail is also called Rivertrail Linear Park.  The trail passes through Thompson Field.
