It’s the end of an era. James Woodruff, founder of the Hugh Heward Challenge, passed away the morning of August 13, 2017. The last thing he saw was his yard – Woodruff’s Landing – and the Grand River.

So long, Jim. See you on the river.

 

In lieu of flowers, Jim’s family requests that donations in his memory be made to the Middle Grand River Organization of Watersheds. MGROW’s mission is to protect and preserve the history and natural resources of the Middle Grand River, and to organize the Grand River Expedition and the Hugh Heward Challenge – two projects that were very important to Jim, and to his longtime friend Verlen Kruger.
